Our Publisher Team, established in April, is focused on streamlining commercial decision-making and prioritising business needs based on impact. This allows us to provide world-class expertise across strategy, marketing, finance, analytics, and product delivery, benefiting both our clients and readers. As part of our growth strategy, we are looking for a Syndication and Licensing Permissions Executive to join our team and support the expansion of our global reach.

The Role: We are seeking a proactive and organised individual to join our small, yet highly efficient team, responsible for the international sale and distribution of content from our client. This includes the syndication of content. Your role will be vital in meeting sales targets while safeguarding and promoting our client's esteemed brands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee our automated rights and permissions service, Rightslink, handling customer queries and reconciling monthly financial reports.
  • Manage the syndication enquiry inbox, providing prompt and excellent customer service.
  • Negotiate appropriate fees for ad-hoc sales and permissions requests, including contract preparation and sales pipeline management through our CRM.
  • Upsell to repeat clients and syndication customers, including managing contracts.
  • Create and follow guidelines to ensure compliance with licensing and copyright procedures.
  • Manage the invoicing and reporting process, contributing to bad-debt recovery and attending regular forecast meetings.
  • Handle content copyright and licensing queries, including brand misuse.
  • Contribute to regular financial forecast meetings.
  • Provide assistance to team members as required.
Skills and Experience:
  • Sales experience, particularly in negotiation, closing agreements, and managing a sales pipeline, with strong commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate the subtleties of local business practices and cultures. Fluency in English is essential, with an understanding of second-language clients a bonus.
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail, particularly in handling financial spreadsheets.
  • Ability to form and maintain strong internal and external relationships, both face-to-face and remotely via telephone and email.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
  • Creative thinking in marketing and customer service, including writing newsletters and creating marketing materials.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Previous experience in publishing, particularly in syndication, licensing, or rights management.
  • Basic understanding of UK copyright law, including Fair Use.
  • Experience curating content for key partners.
