Retirement Living Manager in Uckfield

We are looking for a confident, compassionate and organised manager to run our Uckfield retirement living court, helping older residents live safely, independently and within a welcoming community.

What will the role involve?

You will oversee the safe and efficient running of the court; build trusted relationships with residents; respond to wellbeing and safeguarding concerns; manage tenancy issues, complaints, lettings, voids, repairs and safety checks; maintain accurate records; and work with families, contractors and partner agencies.

You will have relevant experience in housing, social care or a similar customer-focused service, with an understanding of older and vulnerable people’s needs, safeguarding and health and safety. You will be approachable, organised and confident working independently, using IT systems and handling sensitive situations. Flexibility to cover other courts and occasional out-of-hours emergencies is required, as is a willingness to work either temporarily or permanently from another site, as required.

What skills, knowledge and abilities do you require for the role?

We’re looking for a caring, approachable and adaptable person who is confident supporting older and vulnerable residents and able to manage the day-to-day running of a Court independently. They should be organised, reliable and able to use their initiative, with good communication and administrative skills and an understanding of social housing or local government. Most importantly, they should genuinely care about residents’ wellbeing, safety and experience, building positive relationships while dealing calmly and diplomatically with issues, emergencies and change. They need to work well with colleagues and other services, contribute to continuous improvement, use resources responsibly and provide a consistently friendly, professional and responsive service.
