Senior Account Manager | Healthcare Communications
Medical Communications | Patient Engagement & Advocacy | Fully Remote UK
WE3 Consulting is working with a specialist, independent healthcare communications consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Account Manager following significant new business wins and continued growth.
The agency works with pharmaceutical and biotech organisations, alongside patient groups and advocacy organisations, developing programmes focused on patient engagement, patient advocacy and patient-directed healthcare communications.
With two substantial new US-based client accounts recently secured and further programmes commencing in early 2027, the agency is expanding its client services team.
This is an opportunity for an established Senior Account Manager to join a smaller, collaborative agency, taking ownership of day-to-day client relationships and programme delivery.
The position is fully remote within the UK, with occasional in-person meetings.
The Opportunity
Working closely with an Account Director and the wider team, you'll play an important role in managing and delivering healthcare communications programmes for pharmaceutical and biotech clients.
The position is particularly suited to someone who enjoys hands-on account management, building strong client relationships and ensuring complex projects are delivered successfully.
The agency's work has a strong focus on patient engagement and advocacy, so previous experience in these areas would be particularly beneficial. However, applications are equally welcome from experienced MedComms and Healthcare Communications professionals with transferable skills and an interest in developing their experience within this specialist area.
You'll be joining at an important stage of growth, with opportunities to contribute to significant new client programmes and work closely with experienced senior colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day relationships with pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare clients.
- Take responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned client programmes and projects.
- Work closely with the Account Director to translate client objectives and strategic recommendations into practical programme plans.
- Coordinate internal teams, external partners and stakeholders to ensure projects progress effectively.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, resources and deliverables.
- Support the development and delivery of patient engagement, advocacy and wider healthcare communications programmes.
- Build relationships with patient organisations and advocacy groups where relevant to programme requirements.
- Coordinate the development of client materials, programme outputs and stakeholder communications.
- Identify potential issues early, manage expectations and provide practical solutions.
- Contribute to client meetings, programme planning and strategic discussions.
- Support junior colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Maintain consistently high standards of client service, quality and delivery.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Senior Account Manager who can demonstrate:
- Established experience operating at Senior Account Manager level within a medical communications or healthcare communications agency or consultancy.
- Strong experience managing pharmaceutical or biotech client relationships.
- Proven project and account management capabilities, including the delivery of complex healthcare communications programmes.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, budgets and deadlines.
- Confidence working directly with clients and taking ownership of day-to-day account responsibilities.
- Excellent organisational, communication and relationship management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with senior colleagues and wider project teams.
Particularly advantageous, but not essential:
- Experience developing or delivering patient engagement or patient advocacy programmes.
- Experience working directly with patient organisations or patient advocacy groups.
- Oncology or rare disease therapy area experience.
- Experience with US-based or global pharmaceutical accounts.
- Medical affairs, patient insight or patient experience programme experience.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a specialist healthcare communications consultancy that takes a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to its work.
Rather than focusing on high-volume campaign production, the agency places considerable importance on understanding patient experiences and developing programmes that reflect the needs of patients, caregivers and healthcare stakeholders.
You'll be joining a smaller, supportive team where individuals are trusted to take ownership of their work, contribute ideas and develop strong client relationships.
With significant new business secured, the agency is entering an important period of growth, offering the opportunity to become involved in new programmes from their early stages.
The Package
- Fully remote, UK-based working.
- Occasional in-person team and client meetings.
- Permanent, full-time employment.
- Collaborative and supportive independent agency environment.
- Opportunities to work across UK, US and global healthcare programmes.
Interested?
If you're an experienced Senior Account Manager from a MedComms or Healthcare Communications background and would like to explore this opportunity, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
Previous patient engagement or advocacy experience would be an advantage, although it isn't essential.
