We are supporting a growing Essex-based organisation in the appointment of an experienced and hands-on HR Manager to join the business on an interim basis for an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a standalone HR role, offering the opportunity to embed within the organisation, strengthen the people function, and bring greater structure and consistency across HR processes and practices. There is potential for the role to extend or become permanent for someone seeking a longer-term opportunity.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will act as a trusted HR partner, supporting both operational and strategic HR activity during a period of organisational development and change. The role will particularly suit a confident HR generalist who is comfortable working autonomously and enjoys building effective people foundations within a growing environment.

Key areas of focus will include:

  • Supporting organisational change and restructures
  • Providing advice and guidance on employee relations matters
  • Working closely with unions and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships
  • Reviewing and improving HR policies, procedures, and processes
  • Embedding structure and consistency across the wider business
  • Supporting managers with day-to-day HR guidance and best practice

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience within a standalone or generalist HR role
  • Essential union exposure and experience managing union relationships
  • Strong restructure and organisational change experience
  • Up-to-date employment law knowledge
  • The ability to work independently and build strong relationships across the business
  • A proactive and hands-on approach

This role offers flexibility around working hours across a 30-hour working week. An on-site presence will be required initially during the first month to allow the successful candidate to fully embed with managers and the wider business, before moving to a hybrid working arrangement.

Benefits:

  • 11% pension contribution
  • 26 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Company sickness scheme
  • Free parking
  • Hybrid working
  • Potential for extension or permanent opportunity

Due to business needs, the organisation is looking for someone who is available to start ASAP. If you’re a strong HR Consultant who is based locally and looking for a role where you can really make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
