We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or severe learning difficulties. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop communication and social skills, and achieve their individual potential within a supportive specialist setting.
Significant experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or severe learning difficulties is required. Knowledge of SEN support strategies and tools, including:
- Visual timetables
- Sensory integration techniques
- Augmentative communication methods
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential. A calm, caring, patient, and consistent approach is necessary.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Team Teach training or other positive behaviour management training
- Experience using PECS, Makaton, or AAC
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures within specialist settings
