Global Leader Developing Scientific Software is looking for a Software Engineer (Python) to join their London Office. This is the rare role that sits right at the intersection of software and science.
The Role
- Build data integrations that pull outputs from lab instruments — spectrometers, rheometers, HPLCs and more — straight into the platform.
- Design automated pipelines connecting customer systems — ELNs, LIMS, spreadsheets, databases — to Uncountable.
- Write Python to parse, validate and transform scientific data files across every format imaginable.
- Work directly with customer technical teams — map their schemas, deliver clean, well-documented integrations.
- Feed integration patterns back to core engineering to be built into the product itself.
- Own your work end to end — build it, ship it, see exactly what it changed. No layer of process between your code and the scientist who depends on it.
What We're Looking For
- 0–2 years as a software engineer with strong technical fundamentals.
- A Bachelor's in Computer Science (Strong University e.g. Oxford, Cambridge etc.).
- Python as your primary language.
- Hands-on with REST APIs, SQL databases, and Excel/CSV data pipelines (nice to have).
- A genuine pull towards science — studied chemistry, family in the space, an internship at a chemical company, or another clear marker.
- Bonus: exposure to lab environments, scientific instrumentation or research data flows, plus prior time at a startup or fast-paced technical team.
