We Recruit Group has partnered with an independent property & construction consultancy that has a network of offices based across the UK. The business has been operating for 30 years, delivering both project management and building surveying services to their clients across the built environment. They have ambitious plans for the future and have recently appointed a Head of CDM/ PD to lead a new department. They are now looking to hire a Building Regs Principal Designer to work closely with the Head of service and further grow and develop this new department. This is a critical hire for the business and they would like to appoint an experienced, competent, client facing professional who has previously worked within a consultancy environment.
The role has been created off the back of the changes happening in the industry related to the Building Safety Act, and the business wanting to integrate their PD and BSA service offering to help their clients navigate these changes and ensure that building regs and BSA compliance is achieved. The role would suit a client facing, technically excellent and driven individual, someone who wants to grow a business during an exciting time in the sector.
Duties:
- Ensure Building Safety Act and Building Regulations compliance across the project portfolio.
- Liaise with the Principal Designer, Principal Contractor, Architects, MEP, Fire Engineers, Design teams and other parties to ensure compliance on projects.
- Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relation to building regs and BSA compliance.
- Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure that compliance trackers are updated and carry out drawing reviews and ensure that they meet relevant compliance checks.
- Support with Gateway Application process on their portfolio of HRB projects.
- Ensure that the Golden Thread of information is updated and accessible.
- Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
Requirements:
- A background as an Architect/ Architectural Technologist with an excellent technical understanding of the building regulations, approved documents and the Building Safety Act.
- Membership to RIBA or ARB.
- Understanding of RIBA Framework (stages 1 - 5).
- Experience of supporting clients with Gateway 2 submissions.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
