We are currently seeking an experienced Material Controller to join a team on a major new build housing development. This is a long-term opportunity working on a large-scale residential project, where you will play a key role in ensuring that materials are ordered, delivered, received, stored and distributed efficiently to keep construction activities running safely and to programme. We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and comfortable working in a busy construction environment, with excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of site logistics and material management. Key Responsibilities * Coordinate the delivery and movement of materials across the development. * Monitor material requirements and ensure materials are available when required by site teams. * Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, site management and procurement teams to coordinate deliveries. * Receive, check and record incoming materials, ensuring quantities and specifications are correct. * Maintain accurate records of material deliveries, stock levels and outstanding orders. * Monitor material usage and identify potential shortages or delays at an early stage. * Ensure materials are stored correctly, securely and in accordance with site requirements. * Coordinate the distribution of materials to plots, work areas and relevant subcontractors. * Assist with maintaining an organised and efficient site storage and logistics operation. * Report damaged, missing or incorrect materials and assist in resolving issues with suppliers. * Work closely with the site management team to understand upcoming material requirements. * Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with site health & safety procedures. * Help minimise material waste, damage and unnecessary costs. * Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised working environment. About You The successful candidate will ideally have: * Previous experience as a Material Controller, Materials Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator or similar role within the construction industry. * Experience working on large-scale residential or housebuilding projects would be highly advantageous. * A good understanding of construction materials and site operations. * Excellent organisational and communication skills. * Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records. * The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced site environment. * A proactive approach to identifying and resolving material and delivery issues. * Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and relevant construction/site management systems. * A strong understanding of health & safety requirements on a construction site. * The ability to work effectively with site managers, trades, subcontractors and suppliers.
