Job Description
Role: Building Regulations Principal Designer
Location: Central London offices (projects across London/ South East)
Sector: Property & Construction Consultancy

WRG has recently partnered with an award winning property & consultancy that operates across the UK. The business has ambitious plans for developing their Building Regulations Principal Designer service and is looking to appoint an experienced and competent building regulations professional, ideally someone who is competent to oversee HRB projects.
You will sit within their newly established CDM/ Principal Designer team and deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer role to a diverse portfolio of clients across the built environment typically within the residential (public and private), heritage, commercial, leisure, hotel and office.
This role has been created off the back of the changes happening in the industry related to the Building Safety Act, and the business wanting to integrate their PD and BSA service offering.
The Building Regs PD will support their clients and help navigate the changes affecting the industry and ensure that building regs and BSA compliance is achieved. They already have a healthy pipeline of work and have tendered for several more future projects to offer the Building Regs PD service to existing clients.
The role would suit a Building Control professional with several years of experienced in the sector, offering their services to a range of clients and projects. Excellent interpersonal skills are required due to the client facing nature of the role.
Duties:
- Carryout building inspections, plan checks, site visits, surveys and prepare reports.
- Offer advice around the Building Safety Act and ensure compliance on projects.
- Liaise with Principal Designer, Principal Contractor and other parties.
- Undertake plan checks submitted for Building Regulation approval.
- Create compliance trackers to ensure projects are monitored for BSA and Building Regs compliance.
- Support clients with the relevant planning gateways.
- Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the building process.
- Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relation to building regs compliance.
- Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
Requirements:
- Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture or similar discipline (desirable but not essential).
- Membership to RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT or CIOB.
- Class 3 Registered Building Inspector or capable of working towards this.
- Experience of inspecting buildings and properties.
- Excellent knowledge of the Building Safety Act, building regulations, codes and legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
