WRG is supporting a leading construction & engineering consultancy that has been established for over 40 years. They are looking to add an experienced Architect or Architectural Technologist to their team in Northampton to deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer service. The business has developed a culture of support and collaboration and are now looking to add an ambitious building safety consultant/ BRPD to the mix.

This role has been created due to the changes happening in the industry related to the Building Safety Act, and the business wanting to integrate their PD and BSA service offering. The portfolio of projects is vast and diverse, working on flagship schemes in the region and an enviable client list. They are delivering the BRPD service primarily on residential and industrial schemes with plans to expand to other sectors throughout the year.

The Building Regs PD will support their clients and help navigate the changes affecting the industry and ensure that building regs and BSA compliance is achieved. They already have a healthy pipeline of work and have tendered for several more future projects to offer the Building Regs PD service to existing clients.

The role would suit an Architect or Architectural Technologist with several years of experience in the sector and an excellent understanding of Building Regulations, offering their services to a range of clients and projects. Excellent interpersonal skills are required due to the client-facing nature of the role.

Duties:

  • Offer advice around the Building Safety Act and ensure compliance on projects.
  • Liaise with Principal Designer, Principal Contractor, Fire Engineers, MEP, Designers and other parties.
  • Design compliance trackers to ensure projects are compliant with BSA and Building Regs.
  • Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relating to building regs compliance.
  • Ensure the Golden Thread of information is kept up to date and easily accessible.
  • Support clients with the relevant planning gateway submissions.
  • Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture or similar discipline (desirable but not essential).
  • Membership to RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT or CIOB.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Building Safety Act, building regulations, codes and legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
