Role: Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD)

Location: Remote projects across South West, Wales and M4 Corridor to London

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 + attractive benefits package

We Recruit Group is excited to be supporting an independent H&S/ Building Safety Consultancy that is looking to appoint a BRPD to their growing team. Our client already has a team of 4 people delivering the service and is looking for an additional person to join the setup. The business works closely with major contractors, developers, housing associations and local authorities, covering a variety of sectors including residential, HRBs, mixed-use, student accommodation, healthcare, commercial, industrial and heritage projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Architectural Technologist, Architect or technically focused construction professional with strong Building Regulations knowledge to move into a more influential, consultancy-led position. You will join an established and supportive Building Regulations team, working on a varied portfolio of projects and helping clients navigate the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations and the responsibilities placed upon duty holders.

The role will include:

  • Acting as Building Regulations Principal Designer across a range of construction projects.
  • Planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating design work to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
  • Reviewing design information and identifying the proposed route to compliance.
  • Coordinating architects, engineers, contractors and other members of the design team.
  • Advising clients on their duties under the Building Safety Act and associated regulations.
  • Assessing and recording the organisational and individual competence of designers.
  • Supporting the management of design changes, compliance trackers and the Golden Thread of information.
  • Attending design-team meetings and providing clear, practical compliance advice.
  • Supporting projects involving both Higher-Risk Buildings and non-Higher-Risk Buildings.
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the Building Regulations service.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A background in architectural technology, architecture, technical design, design management or Building Control.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Building Regulations and Approved Documents.
  • An understanding of the Building Safety Act and the Building Regulations duty-holder regime.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
  • CIAT or RIBA status, or be actively working towards chartership.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • A practical and commercially aware approach to compliance.
  • Previous BRPD experience would be advantageous, although our client will consider technically strong candidates looking to transition into the profession.
