with occasional travel to project sites Salary: Competitive apprenticeship salary - Β£25,000 Sector: Property & Construction Consultancy WRG is delighted to be supporting an established, employee-owned building consultancy that provides specialist Building Surveying, Project Management, Sustainability, Building Safety and CDM Principal Designer services throughout the UK. The business has been operating for almost three decades and has developed an excellent reputation for providing practical and reliable advice to clients across the commercial, residential, industrial, retail, education and healthcare sectors. It is also a certified B Corp and has a strong track record of supporting apprentices and graduates through structured training, mentoring and professional development. Due to continued growth, the Bristol team is looking to appoint a Health & Safety/CDM Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who would like to develop specialist knowledge within construction Health & Safety and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. You will work alongside experienced Health & Safety and Principal Designer professionals, gaining practical experience across live construction projects while studying towards a recognised Level 3 Health & Safety qualification. The apprenticeship will include
one day of paid day release each week
to attend college or an approved training provider. The remaining four days will be spent working with the consultancys Bristol team and gaining hands-on industry experience. No previous Health & Safety or CDM experience is required. The business is looking for someone enthusiastic, organised and genuinely interested in developing a long-term career within the property and construction industry. Your responsibilities will develop to include: Supporting experienced consultants in delivering CDM Principal Designer and Client CDM Advisor services. Learning the duties placed on clients, designers and contractors under CDM 2015. Attending construction sites, client meetings and design-team meetings alongside senior colleagues. Assisting with site inspections and recording Health & Safety observations. Supporting the preparation and review of pre-construction information. Helping to review Construction Phase Plans, risk assessments, method statements and other project documentation. Assisting with design-risk reviews and maintaining project risk registers. Supporting the preparation, collation and review of Health & Safety Files. Producing meeting notes, reports and project correspondence. Maintaining accurate electronic project records and documentation. Communicating professionally with clients, designers, contractors and other members of the project team. Keeping up to date with relevant Health & Safety legislation and construction-industry guidance. Completing all coursework, assessments and evidence required for the Level 3 qualification. The successful candidate will ideally have: A genuine interest in Health & Safety, construction or the wider built environment. A positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced professionals. Good written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work. Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other general IT systems. The ability to manage work responsibilities alongside academic study. GCSEs in English and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications required by the training provider. The confidence to communicate with different people and work as part of a professional team. A full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential. This opportunity could suit a recent school or college leaver, someone with an existing construction-related qualification or an individual looking to begin a professional career within Health & Safety and CDM.
