Job Description

Role: Head of CDM
Location: Leeds, Sheffield or Manchester (projects across the UK)
Salary: Up to £70,000 + car allowance + excellent benefits package

WRG is recruiting for a Head of CDM to join a property & construction consultancy that operates across the UK. Our client is ideally looking to appoint someone based around the North of England due to the location of their projects and offices (Leeds, Sheffield or Manchester offices).

This will be a strategic role where you will be responsible for growing and developing the existing CDM/ H&S division, you will be responsible for managing a team of H&S/ CMD professionals across the UK, building on current clients relationships and nurturing new ones, identifying areas for growth, and overall responsibility for the success of the department.

The role would suit an experienced CDM/ PD professional who has been working within the sector for the past 10+ years, ideally within a consultancy setting and is keen to take the next step in their career and joining a growing organisation with ambitious plans for the future.

Strategic Leadership

  • Shape and execute the strategy to expand H&S/ CDM services.
  • Strengthen relationships with clients, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Identify market opportunities and lead the development of CDM/ Principal Designer services.
  • Take full ownership of budgeting and P&L for the division.

Team Empowerment

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of H&S/ CDM professionals.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to meet project demands and deliver excellence.
  • Recruit, train, and nurture top talent, fostering professional growth and collaboration.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the delivery of Principal Designer and CDM advisory services across a diverse project portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and health and safety standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement through project reviews and feedback implementation.

Client Partnership

  • Serve as the primary advisor for high-profile clients, offering expert guidance and innovative solutions.
  • Develop proposals and deliver impactful presentations to stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at industry events, championing H&S/ CDM services.

Requirements:

  • Degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., APS, IOSH, IIRSM, RICS, RIBA, or ICE).
  • Extensive experience as a CDM Consultant or Principal Designer.
  • Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex projects successfully.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and health and safety legislation.
  • Good understanding of the BSA and the changes affecting the industry.
