We Recruit Group is supporting a growing construction consultancy that provides a range of professional services to clients primarily within the education sector. The business is looking to appoint an Architect or Architectural Technologist to deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer service for the business. This will be the first appointment of its kind within the team, and they would like to hire someone who would be willing to grow and develop this new service, whilst building a team of building safety professionals beneath them.
You will deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer service in line with the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations, supporting clients and design teams during the pre-construction and design stages. This is an excellent opportunity for a design professional who enjoys technical detail, regulation and coordination, and is looking to move away from day-to-day design delivery while still working closely with design teams.
Key responsibilities:- Undertaking the Building Regulations Principal Designer role.
- Coordinating design teams to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations.
- Reviewing architectural and technical designs for regulatory compliance.
- Identifying, managing and recording compliance risks during the design phase.
- Advising clients and dutyholders on their obligations under the Building Safety Act.
- Maintaining clear compliance records and audit trails.
- Working collaboratively with designers, contractors and Building Control.
- Background as an Architect, Architectural Technologist, Design Manager or similar function.
- Strong technical understanding of UK Building Regulations and Building Safety Act.
- Experience producing or reviewing detailed design and technical information.
- Confident communicator, able to coordinate and challenge design teams.
- Organised, methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
- Professional accreditation (ARB, CIAT or equivalent).
Salary in the region of £50,000 - £60,000 (dependent on experience). 22 days Annual Leave, with Christmas shutdown (holiday allowance increases with time served). Nest Pension Scheme. 2-3 Day Hybrid per week (Rostered with team and completely optional). Discretionary Yearly Bonus. Bupa Healthcare & Bupa Dental Cover. Mileage Reimbursement.
