We Recruit Group is supporting an independent property & construction consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced CDM Advisor/ Principal Designer to their team. They are passionate about delivering outstanding projects while putting peoples wellbeing at the heart of everything they do. They are looking for a talented and driven CDM/ PD professional to join the Nottingham, Birmingham or London office and oversee a portfolio of projects across the UK.

Our client oversees a diverse range of schemes including; student accommodation, museums, heritage, hotels, office, commercial, and residential.

This is more than just a compliance role, its a chance to influence projects from concept to completion, shape safety in design, and build long-lasting client relationships. Youll be a trusted advisor, supporting teams and clients to deliver safer, smarter projects across the country.

What youll be doing

  • Act as a trusted CDM Consultant, guiding clients in fulfilling their Principal Designer and/or CDMA duties.
  • Reviewing the design risk register and ensuring that it is kept up to date.
  • Collating the relevant documents such as construction phase plans, pre construction information packs, H&S files.
  • Oversee project and programme health & safety, from setting site strategies and policies to advising on the ground.
  • Represent the business professionally at every level, building strong and lasting relationships.
  • Become the go-to contact for clients, chairing design and client team meetings and gaining their confidence through your expertise.
  • Contribute to growth by spotting new opportunities and supporting business development.

About you

Youll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety, and loves working with people.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in a Principal Designer or CDM role.
  • Strong construction site health & safety background.
  • NEBOSH Construction or General certification (or equivalent).
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • IOSH or APS membership, or working towards.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects
  • Great communicator who can build relationships with ease
  • Commercially astute with excellent report-writing skills
  • Flexible, detail-focused, and motivated to make an impact
