Are you a Registered Architect or Architectural Technologist who is looking to deliver the BRPD service? Would you like to move away from your typical role and deliver a new service for our client?
WRG has recently partnered with a leading multi-disciplinary property & construction consultancy that operates across Yorkshire. The business is looking to hire a competent Building Safety Consultant or Building Regs Principal Designer to sit within their CDM/ Principal Designer team and work with a diverse portfolio of clients across the built environment delivering the BRPD service. Our client operates out of offices in Leeds and York and oversees a range of projects with clients in the residential, healthcare, commercial, retail, office, leisure, hotel, industrial, manufacturing, and education sectors.
The role has been created off the back of the changes happening in the industry related to the Building Safety Act, and the business wanting to integrate their PD and Building Safety service offering to help its clients navigate these changes and ensure that building regs compliance is achieved. The role would suit an Architect or Architectural Technologist with several years of experience in the sector offering their services to a range of clients and projects. Excellent interpersonal skills are required due to the client-facing nature of the role.
Duties:
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure all design and construction activities adhere to the Building Safety Act 2022 and relevant building regulations.
- Liaise with Principal Designer, Fire Engineers, MEP, Principal Contractor, Architects and other parties to ensure buildings regulations compliance on projects.
- Support clients with the relevant planning gateways.
- Undertake plan checks and review designs to establish compliance for submission for Building Regulation approval.
- Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the building process.
- Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relating to building regs compliance.
- Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
Requirements:
- Degree in a design related field (desirable).
- Membership to RIBA, ARB or CIAT.
- Excellent knowledge of the BSA, building regulations, codes and legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
