Role: Building Safety Consultant/ Building Regs Principal Designer

Location: UK Wide (Remote working environment)

Sector: Architect/ Design practice

WRG has recently partnered with a leading architect & design practice that operate across the UK. The business is looking to hire several experienced and competent Building Safety Consultants or Building Regs Principal Designer to sit within their CDM/ Principal Designer team and work with a wide variety of clients across the built environment in the UK. Our client operates out of offices throughout the UK (Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Bristol, and London) and are happy to consider people for the role in these locations and also consider people to work remotely.

They oversee a diverse range of projects with clients in the residential, HRB, commercial, retail, office, leisure, hotel, industrial, manufacturing, sport and education sectors. The role has been created off the back of the changes happening in the industry related to the Building Safety Act, and the business wanting to integrate their PD and Building Safety service offering to help its clients navigate these changes and ensure that building regs compliance is achieved.

The role would suit a Building Control or Design (Architect or Architectural Technician) professional with several years of experience in the sector offering their services to a range of clients and projects. Excellent interpersonal skills are required due to the client facing nature of the role. Our client is also happy to consider people who have not registered with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).

Duties:

  • Carry out building inspections, site visits, surveys and prepare reports.
  • Offer advice around the Building Safety Act.
  • Liaise with Principal Designer, Principal Contractor, Architects and other parties to ensure compliance on projects.
  • Undertake plan checks submitted for Building Regulation approval.
  • Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the building process.
  • Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relation to building regs compliance.
  • Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management or similar discipline.
  • Membership to RICS, CABE, RIBA or CIOB.
  • Experience of inspecting buildings and properties.
  • Excellent knowledge of BSA, building regulations, codes and legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Registered through the BSR (desirable but not essential).
