Sector: Construction specialist tower crane contractor WRG has a truly exciting opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional to join one of the UK’s leading tower crane specialists. Our client has been established for over 20 years and has developed an excellent reputation throughout the sector due to the quality of their work and safety-focused culture. The business has an impressive fleet of over 200 cranes across London and the South East, overseeing a diverse portfolio of construction schemes, primarily residential and commercial RC framed structures. They are trusted on some of the UK’s largest high-rise projects and landmarks and are now looking to appoint a competent and experienced H&S professional to join the team.
Our client's head office is based in Barnet, North London with travel to projects across London/South East. A car allowance of £6,000 would be provided with the role along with a competitive salary in the region of £60,000 - £70,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience).
Responsibilities:
- Carry out risk assessments and site inspections, ensuring that risks are highlighted and acted upon.
- Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.
- Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Ensure working practices are safe and comply with all relevant H&S legislation e.g. CDM 2015.
- Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policies.
- Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
- Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
- Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
- Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins.
- Ensure equipment is installed safely.
- Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos.
- Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, Building Safety Act, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH Construction or equivalent.
- NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ level 5/6, or Degree in a safety-related discipline (desirable).
- Previous experience of working on RC Frame projects would be essential.
- Knowledge of tower cranes and dangers/risks involved within such a sector.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- 5+ years experience within the construction sector in a safety capacity.
