Specialist Attendance Officer – Ref: CH02725
G8: £36,124 – £40,476 (pro rata)

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and efficient individual seeking a new challenge within the School Attendance Service. The successful candidate will provide first-tier management to Attendance Officers, so experience in supervising or managing a team is essential.

The role involves carrying out specialist tasks to improve school attendance, as well as direct work with families. This includes travel to schools and other locations within and outside Walsall.

Applicants should have experience in an educational setting and a background in managing attendance—whether in a School Attendance Service, school-based role, or another relevant organisation. They must demonstrate an understanding of the causes of irregular attendance and provide evidence of how they have contributed to improving attendance in previous roles.

The School Attendance Service uses a range of successful strategies—from early intervention and restorative approaches to statutory enforcement—to improve attendance. We are looking for someone who can build on these strengths and drive continued progress in school participation.

As the service is commissioned by schools in Walsall and neighbouring areas, business development is a key component of the role.

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only

Location: Remote working available
