The Role
Required from 1st January 2026, an excellent, experienced, and compassionate fully qualified teacher to support the delivery of education for pupils accessing the MET. The successful candidate will be responsible for learners accessing the Redditch unit who are currently unable to attend school for medical reasons including those with additional needs, whilst also managing a regular review of students in conjunction with school, external agencies, and healthcare colleagues with a focus on supporting future education options Pupils accessing the MET are typically of secondary age..As such, experience of a leadership post within a school, working with Middle/Secondary age pupils and safeguarding responsibilities would be advantageous.
The MET offers pupils tuition within small groups, of approximately 10 in; English, mathematics, science, PSHE and business studies. Pupils who are unable to attend lessons within the MET base are offered 1-1 sessions or small group classes via Teams and in some instances within the home or school setting.
The successful candidate will work alongside a team of committed teachers and support staff and will be based at our Redditch unit, which shares a site with The Forge, on Easemore Road. The site is open to pupils from Tuesday – Thursday the successful candidate is required to be on site during this time. Additionally, the role includes one working day to support casework and provides an opportunity for flexible working arrangements.
The caseworker has responsibility for the children accessing the Redditch MET and developing Individual Education Plans to support each child’s learning. The caseworker will also line manage a core department, the staff who work within the unit and will work collaboratively with the Medical Education Team Lead and other Senior Teachers to ensure that children accessing the MET across the County are provided with equitable opportunities to address gaps in their learning and thrive within education whilst preparing for reintegration or their next steps in education.
