Learning Support Assistant

32.50 hours per week | Term Time Only

We are seeking a dynamic and committed professional to join our amazing school as a Learning Support Assistant. You will be an ambitious, motivated, and compassionate teacher committed to improving life chances for our students. The school is on a rapid improvement journey, and you will need to be fully committed to investing time, effort, and expertise with all teams at the school to further contribute to this journey.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide support for students with speech, language, communication, social, and emotional difficulties.
  • Assist students in using resources, including IT, and help them access the national curriculum.
  • Support individual and group work, following plans set by the Learning Consultant.
  • Deliver pre-planned programmes of work under the direction of a teacher.
  • Help assess, record, and monitor student progress.
  • Supervise students on school trips and during break/lunchtime.
  • Liaise with teachers, staff, and parents/carers to support student development.
  • Take responsibility for the care and welfare of students, including personal care if required.
  • Attend planning meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Play a full part in the life of the Academy, upholding our values and ethos.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • GCSE Grade C (contemporary Grade 4) or above in Maths and English.
  • Recent and relevant professional development.
  • Ability to support children individually, in small groups, and in whole class settings.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Trustworthy, respectful of confidentiality, and suitable to work with children and young people.
  • Competent ICT skills and a positive, resilient outlook.

Desirable:

  • GCSE Grade C or above in Science.
  • Relevant qualification in Childcare and/or Education.
  • Experience leading interventions or working in a SEN department.
  • Ability to adapt resources and suggest alternative ways of supporting children.
  • Evidence of previous CPD/training related to the role.
