Within Finance Operational Services (FOS) we are continually working to ensure the services we deliver support the wider business, our adults and children with care and support needs, and our customer journey too. We support the Finance Operational Services (FOS) Leadership Team in providing strategic, statutory and core financial services to directly support the Council in helping to maintain, improve and deliver frontline services for Worcestershire’s customers, residents and businesses.
We currently have 3 vacancies within 2 of our teams, Debt and Workflow Business Unit for which there are further details below:
The Role for Debt Team x2- Reporting on customers in liquidation / administration to ensure appropriate action is taken to secure dividend payment or to ensure write off is actioned, when payment cannot be secured.
- Pursuing Deferred Payment Agreement (DPA) debtors or representatives for outstanding monies and arranging payment terms.
- Monitoring Debt, bringing any significant variations or unusual events to the attention of the appropriate budget holder or Team Leader.
- Preparing refunds and write offs, and pass to the appropriate officer for authorisation.
- Provide financial advice and support to Authority staff on all aspects of debt recovery and ensure financial governance is adhered to.
- Sensitively handle all interactions with clients and/or their representatives in relation to collection of Debt payments owed to the Council.
- Review and report on debts in query (including debts to be cancelled) and follow up with Service Departments to ensure disputes are resolved and incorrect invoices are cancelled promptly.
- Sending scheduled debt letters and answering phone calls and emails that come into the team mailboxes.
- WBU Officers are responsible for liaising with the Customer Contact Centre ensuring that finance queries are responded to in accordance with our Service Level Agreement.
- Liaising with adults with care and support needs, adult social care colleagues, Social Workers, schools and businesses, is a daily requirement, so excellent communication skills are essential.
- You will be required to provide flexible ad-hoc support in undertaking specialised tasks as required for other FOS teams, this includes refunds, setting up instalment plans to be paid by Direct Debit.
- You will also be doing daily tasks such as processing financial assessments, checking when invoices are due for payment, helping customers understand their invoices and many others things besides as the job is very varied.
- You will be using the Corporate finance system as well as the Adult Social Care Finance system which you will be trained on but will also need a good working knowledge of MS Office.
- Ideally you will have a knowledge of Adults Social Care but more importantly a willingness to learn new processes and improve service delivery with excellent attention to detail and customer service.
