About St Catherine’s
It is an exciting time to join St Catherine’s CE Primary School. We have worked tirelessly to make St Catherine’s a special place for our pupils, families and staff. Our recent Ofsted inspection in summer 2026 recognised the positive work taking place across our school. Our children are happy here, our staff are proud to work here, and our families would recommend our school.
Our modern school building opened in 2012 and has been well maintained, providing an excellent environment for pupils and staff. The school has capacity for 420 pupils from Reception to Year 6, with a private nursery also operating within the building.
We have a dedicated team of approximately 65 staff, working across a wide range of roles within the school. Our school meals and cleaning services are currently delivered by external providers, and the Facilities manager will play an important role in working effectively with these contractors and overseeing the standards of services provided.
The school site is busy and well used. The building is generally open from 7.00am until 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, and is also used during school holiday periods, excluding Christmas, when an external holiday club operates from the premises.
There are also opportunities for the school to develop lettings outside normal school hours, generating additional income for the school. The successful candidate may therefore have opportunities to undertake additional opening and locking-up duties associated with lettings, subject to agreed arrangements.
We are proud of our inclusive Christian ethos and are committed to providing a safe, secure, welcoming and inspiring environment in which every child can flourish. The effective management and maintenance of our school site is an important part of achieving this.
We are now seeking to appoint an experienced, proactive, practical and highly organised Facilities manager to join our team. This is an important role within the school, with responsibility for ensuring that our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, well maintained and ready to support the needs of our pupils, staff and wider school community.
Role Purpose
The Facilities Manager will support the School Business Manager and Headteacher by taking responsibility for the safe, secure, efficient and effective day-to-day management of the school site, buildings, grounds and facilities.
The post holder will have responsibility for ensuring high standards of:
- Health and Safety;
- statutory premises compliance;
- site security;
- building and grounds maintenance;
- fire and emergency preparedness;
- cleaning and facilities management;
- planned and preventative maintenance;
- contractor management and liaison and management with cleaning company;
- asset management; and
- premises-related emergency response.
This is both a strategic and hands-on role. We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in working at St Catherine’s, notices when something needs attention and takes proactive action to resolve it.
