Kidderminster Town Council is seeking to appoint a highly proactive, motivated and enthusiastic Corporate Services Manager to manage and deliver the council’s wide ranging and varied corporate services, ensuring that the engine room of the council is organised, structured, adaptable and efficient at all times. The Officer will also be a key part of the senior management team, contributing and being actively involved in moving the council forwards on many fronts.
The officer will need to be able to multi-task, deal with requests from several sources, grasp new technologies quickly, be tenacious in approach, able to suggest and implement new ways of working and be passionate about organising the workplace and supporting the other key officers employed along with, of course, the elected Councillors – all aimed at ensuring that Kidderminster TC is working as effectively and efficiently as possible.
The council is still relatively new, having been established in December 2015, but it is ambitious and wanting to deliver the very best services and functions for the residents it serves. Chief amongst this is the hugely exciting £12m renovation and refurbishment of the imposing and very impressive Town Hall building. This iconic Grade II listed venue is being transformed into a premier destination for events, entertainment and weddings, boasting a stunning new covered courtyard, upgraded performance spaces, and beautifully restored heritage features. With modernised facilities and a renewed sense of grandeur, the Town Hall is ready to cement its reputation as the cultural heart of Kidderminster.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have relevant experience – a track record of working in a fast paced, evolving environment, an ability to interact with differing groups of people, have excellent IT skills in a range of software, experience of managing the organisation of meetings and so on, be committed to public service, motivated, community focused, and possess sound communication and organisational skills. It is not essential that candidates have local government experience, though a basic knowledge of how local councils at the Town Council level operate would be of some benefit.
Attendance at evening meetings and weekend events may be required occasionally, for which time off in lieu will be granted. Kidderminster Town Council is committed to Equality of Opportunity and actively welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
This process is being managed by a third party acting for the Town Council. For an informal discussion and to access the Recruitment Pack then please call Mr Reg Williams on 07494 760535. The closing date for the receipt of applications is 12 Noon on Monday 5th May 2025. Interviews will take place in Kidderminster on the 22nd May 2025. It is hoped the new Corporate Services Manager will commence around Monday 30th June 2025.
