Are you an experienced technician with a background in busy arts or theatre venues?

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our team at The Core Theatre, Solihull as a Theatre Technician.This is a dynamic role within a fast-paced environment, ideal for someone looking to develop their technical skills while helping deliver unforgettable performances to our audiences.

Located in the heart of Solihull town centre, The Core Theatre is a vibrant, multi-purpose arts venue featuring a 336-seat raked auditorium, a flexible studio space, and a lively gallery. It’s a creative hub that hosts a diverse programme of events—from live music and comedy to drama, dance, and more.

As we prepare to relaunch our busy events calendar, we’re looking for a passionate and enthusiastic technician to help bring our productions to life.No two nights are the same, and you’ll be supporting a wide range of professional and amateur performances, working with everyone from local drama groups to national touring companies who value the energy and loyal audiences at The Core.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively as part of the Technical Team to deliver high-quality technical services.
  • Set up and operate sound, lighting, and video packages for touring productions.
  • Contribute to creative and design elements in both sound and lighting operations.
  • Assist with stage setups, including hemp flying and set construction, as required.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety regulations.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for: You’ll bring previous technical experience in a theatre or venue setting, with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively. You must be comfortable working at height and be available for evening, weekend, and bank holiday shifts.

A key part of the role includes supporting our annual pantomime, working intensively across a six-week production and performance schedule.
