We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Category Manager to join our Procurement team supporting the procurement and contract activity in Adult Social Care. Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, you will play a crucial role in developing and delivering a proactive and flexible Procurement Service that meets the needs of the council and delivers Vision 2030.
You will be responsible for providing procurement support, advice, and guidance to services across the council and external bodies, developing and delivering Procurement Category Plans, and managing corporate contracts primarily in the support of Adult Social Care.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide procurement support, advice, and guidance to services across the council and external bodies.
- Develop and deliver Procurement Category Plans based on service needs and spend analysis.
- Undertake and manage procurement exercises from identifying needs to establishing streamlined ordering and payment processes.
- Manage corporate contracts, liaising with services and suppliers to ensure compliance and maximise performance.
- Support the delivery of objectives and priorities within Procurement Services and the council through engagement, consultation, and negotiation with stakeholders.
- Maintain and develop professional knowledge, skills, and experience to enhance service delivery.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, including council services, suppliers, and partners.
- Support teams in influencing, motivating, and supervising day-to-day team activities.
- Undertake detailed research and analysis to support all Procurement activities.
- Identify opportunities for service improvement within Procurement and support planning, and coordination to implement improvements.
- Provide advice, reports, and briefings to elected Members, senior officers, employees, and external bodies on matters relating to Procurement.
Qualifications: Educated to relevant diploma standard plus relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
