The Role
As an Assessment Manager you will be a leader, responsible for ensuring that your team of investigators delivers high quality, timely assessments of new cases against challenging objectives, as well as progressing your own casework. Our work is underpinned by our principles of independence, impartiality and fairness, focusing on remedying injustice to individuals and improving public services. You will also be a member of the Leadership Team, working collaboratively to promote, lead and contribute to projects and initiatives across the organisation and making a significant contribution to service and policy development.
The Profile
You will have a strong track record of leading teams and managing people and performance as well as a good knowledge of local government and/or adult social care. You will need the confidence to be able to advise staff on whether or not individual cases merit detailed investigation – based on our Assessment Code - Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and will have a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach, great communication skills and enthusiasm. You will need to demonstrate the confidence, credibility and ability to work with senior leaders internally to strategic priorities and performance objectives.
Location
We offer hybrid working and, subject to manager approval, an Assessment Manager can choose to work mostly from home. Individuals will be allocated to either our London or York office and be expected to attend the office as and when required in person for team meetings, training and other occasions. There will be occasional travel to the other offices.
The closing date for applications is 9am Monday 31 March 2025. Assessments will be held during April with interviews being held week commencing Tuesday 6 May 2025.
