Volunteer for a startup fighting for gender equity. Period Reality fights for gender equity through system-level change by educating about and advocating for living in sync with your cycle. Period Reality aims to address period-related issues and stories by sharing the real-life stories from girls and women globally. Although half the population experiences a menstrual cycle, the stark contrast in the different realities of girls and women is very real, and through storytelling, we aim to educate and provide relatable content.
Through sharing stories from girls and women focused on their common humanity, we all share many of the same questions, worries, dreams, anxieties, and ambitions. Making these stories relatable and accessible will educate, inspire, and create a movement of girls and women being able to first and foremost understand their own cycle, in order to be kind to themselves.
Role Description:
Why this role matters: Stories are at the heart of everything we do at Period Reality. They help us break taboos, shift narratives, and make conversations about menstruation and gender equity impossible to ignore. As our Digital Strategist, you’ll help shape how these stories are told, shared, and felt, ensuring they reach the people who need them most, in ways that are ethical, powerful, and relatable.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the development of our digital storytelling strategy across platforms
- Collaborate with volunteers to design and deliver storytelling campaigns
- Shape narrative tone, themes, and messaging in line with PR’s mission and values
- Review and guide content to ensure stories are shared with care, respect, and integrity
- Grow and manage our presence on Instagram, TikTok, and other digital platforms
- Experiment with creative formats and trends to communicate complex topics simply
- Test, learn, and refine content based on audience engagement and impact
What we’re looking for:
- A creative storyteller with a strong interest in digital media and social impact
- Someone curious about people’s lived experiences and perspectives
- Comfortable handling sensitive topics with empathy and confidentiality
- Familiar with Instagram, TikTok, and evolving digital trends
- Self-driven and confident taking ownership of projects
- A collaborator who enjoys teamwork but can also work independently
