Package: £45,000–£55,000 depending on experience + bonus + company car + benefits

Are you a field salesperson who enjoys developing a territory and building long-term customer relationships?

I’m recruiting for an established international packaging manufacturer looking to appoint a Territory Manager covering Bristol and the surrounding region.

This is a field-based sales role where you'll take responsibility for developing your territory, building relationships with customers and identifying opportunities to grow sales.

New business is an important part of the role, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable getting out into the market, opening doors and creating opportunities rather than simply waiting for leads to come in.

If you already know the corrugated packaging market, we'd definitely like to speak to you.

However, the company is also open to strong B2B field salespeople from wider manufacturing or related industries.

What you'll be doing

You'll take ownership of your geographical territory and be responsible for developing sales across the region.

That will include:

  • Developing and implementing a sales plan for your territory
  • Identifying and targeting potential new customers
  • Prospecting and generating your own sales opportunities
  • Spending time in the field meeting customers and prospects face-to-face
  • Building strong relationships with key decision-makers
  • Understanding customers' packaging, operational and commercial requirements
  • Identifying opportunities to grow existing customer relationships
  • Working closely with internal technical and manufacturing teams to develop the right packaging solutions
  • Preparing proposals, quotations and commercial agreements
  • Negotiating and winning profitable new business
  • Managing opportunities through the full sales cycle
  • Maintaining an accurate pipeline and forecasting future sales
  • Taking overall responsibility for the commercial development of your territory

Who are we looking for?

We’re deliberately keeping the brief fairly open.

You may already be working as a Territory Manager, Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager or Field Sales Executive within packaging.

Alternatively, you may come from a wider manufacturing or B2B sales environment and have the commercial ability to learn the packaging market.

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • A strong track record in B2B field sales
  • Experience developing and growing a geographical territory
  • Confidence prospecting and approaching new customers
  • The ability to build long-term commercial relationships
  • Experience managing opportunities through a full sales cycle
  • Commercial confidence when dealing with decision-makers
  • Strong territory, pipeline and time management
  • Resilience, self-motivation and a proactive approach
  • A willingness to spend significant time out meeting customers

Experience selling corrugated packaging, cartons or other packaging products would be particularly attractive, but isn't essential for the right salesperson.

Ideally, you'll be based in or around Bristol, allowing you to effectively cover customers and prospects across the territory.

Why consider it?

You’ll be joining a large, established international packaging manufacturer with significant production capability, an established customer base and the technical and operational infrastructure to support you.

You’ll have responsibility for developing your own territory, with the opportunity to build relationships, create new opportunities and directly influence its growth.

There’s also flexibility around the package depending on experience, so we’re happy to speak with people at different stages of their sales career.

You might not be actively looking.

But if you’re a strong field salesperson who enjoys developing a territory, building customer relationships and winning new business, it’s worth a confidential conversation.
