Assistant Finance Manager - Fixed Term 12 Month Contract

Salary: £40,000–£45,000, depending on experience and qualifications
We are recruiting an Assistant Finance Manager to join a well-established business based in Crawley.
This is a hands‑on, varied role supporting the day‑to‑day running of the finance function. You will take ownership of key month‑end, reporting and financial‑control activities, while working closely with finance leadership and colleagues across the wider business.
It is a great opportunity for an experienced Assistant Finance Manager, Management Accountant or strong Senior Finance Assistant looking for broader responsibility.
The role
- Support and coordinate month-end close activities
- Prepare management accounts, reporting packs and variance analysis
- Review journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Maintain strong balance‑sheet control and investigate outstanding items
- Monitor inventory, receivables and payables, helping to improve working‑capital performance
- Support cash management and identify potential risks or opportunities
- Assist with group reporting, audit preparation and statutory compliance activity
- Provide day‑to‑day support and guidance to a Finance Assistant
- Work with commercial and operational teams to provide accurate financial information and insight
- Support process improvements, finance projects and ad‑hoc analysis
About you
- AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part‑qualified or qualified by experience
- Strong experience in management accounts, month‑end and financial control
- Confident with balance‑sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
- Commercially minded, organised and comfortable managing competing priorities
- A clear communicator who can build effective relationships across finance, operations and commercial teams
- Proactive, accurate and happy to get stuck into the detail
