We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Adult Social Care team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with strong local authority experience who is confident working autonomously and managing a complex caseload within a fast-paced adult social care setting.

About the Role

As part of the Adult Social Care team, you will undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for adults aged 18+ with disabilities, supporting individuals to maximise independence and achieve safe, person-centred outcomes. You will play a key role in assessing needs, identifying risks, recommending equipment and adaptations, and contributing to effective multi-agency working across health, housing, and social care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Care Act-compliant Occupational Therapy assessments for adults with disabilities
  • Apply sound clinical reasoning to assess risk, promote independence, and support safe discharge and community living
  • Prescribe simple and complex equipment, including completion of associated risk assessments
  • Complete Manual Handling assessments and provide safe moving and handling recommendations
  • Assess for and recommend major adaptations in line with statutory eligibility criteria
  • Refer for and contribute to Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes where appropriate
  • Participate in duty triaging on a rota basis, including screening referrals, responding to urgent matters, and prioritising cases effectively
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional case recordings
  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, health professionals, housing teams, and partner agencies

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Substantial recent experience within Adult Social Care in a local authority setting
  • Demonstrable experience completing:
  • Care Act assessments
  • Risk assessments
  • Manual Handling assessments
  • Simple and complex equipment provision
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Major adaptation eligibility criteria
    • Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes
    • Equipment provision criteria
  • Ability to independently manage a complex caseload
  • Full-time availability is essential
