About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children’s Services team. The successful candidate will work with children, young people and families to assess needs, manage risk and provide effective social work interventions. You will be responsible for managing a caseload and working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes and ensure children remain safe and supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an allocated caseload of children and families.
- Undertake high-quality assessments and identify strengths, needs and risks.
- Develop and implement effective plans to improve outcomes for children.
- Undertake Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) work.
- Complete statutory visits and ensure children's needs and welfare remain central to practice.
- Assess and manage safeguarding risks appropriately.
- Build positive and professional relationships with children, young people, parents and carers.
- Ensure children's wishes, feelings and lived experiences inform assessments and decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police and other partner agencies.
- Participate in strategy discussions, child protection conferences, core groups and review meetings where required.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports, assessments and case records.
- Where appropriate, contribute to Public Law Outline (PLO) and care proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case records in accordance with statutory and local authority requirements.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, training and continuing professional development.
- Work in accordance with relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures and professional standards.
Candidate Requirements
- A recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Previous experience working within Children’s Services.
- Strong knowledge of children’s safeguarding and relevant legislation.
- Experience undertaking assessments and managing complex caseloads.
- Experience in CIN and Child Protection practice.
- Strong risk assessment and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- The ability to work independently and effectively within a multi-agency environment.
- A child-centred, strengths-based approach to social work.
- Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
