About the Role

As a MASH Children’s Social Worker, you will be at the frontline of safeguarding, working alongside professionals from education, health, police, and other partner agencies to assess referrals and identify risks to children and young people. You will play a vital role in ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time through effective information sharing, robust risk analysis, and timely decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen and assess safeguarding referrals relating to children and families.
  • Gather and analyse information from partner agencies to inform decision-making.
  • Identify levels of risk and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Make clear recommendations regarding thresholds and next steps.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-agency environment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and reports.
  • Ensure all practice is compliant with safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and local procedures.
  • Promote the welfare, safety, and voice of the child in all aspects of practice.

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience working within children’s safeguarding services.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within a MASH or front-door safeguarding service.
  • Experience of multi-agency information sharing and threshold decision-making.
  • Knowledge of local safeguarding procedures and contextual safeguarding approaches.
