We Do Social Work is recruiting an experienced Elective Home Education (EHE) Officer to join Coventry City Council on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring children educated outside of mainstream school receive a suitable education while promoting their safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
The Role
- Lead on the effective monitoring and oversight of Elective Home Education (EHE) cases.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting systems to ensure statutory compliance.
- Develop and improve EHE policies, procedures and working practices.
- Ensure children and young people receiving Elective Home Education are accessing a suitable education.
- Identify and respond to requests for school places, alternative education and additional support, including health provision where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with schools, families and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes.
- Identify, assess and escalate safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate action is taken in line with statutory guidance.
- Provide advice and guidance to parents and professionals regarding Elective Home Education legislation and responsibilities.
About You
- Experience working within Elective Home Education, Education Welfare, Attendance, Inclusion or Children's Services.
- Strong knowledge of education legislation, safeguarding and Local Authority statutory duties.
- Excellent communication, case management and organisational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with families while maintaining professional challenge where required.
- Enhanced DBS and the ability to start at short notice are desirable.
