At We Do Play, we’re growing, and so is our newly created internal People function! We’re a multi-brand leisure and entertainment group, bringing together exciting experiences across the UK, including Activate, Flip Out, Putt Putt Social, Boom Battle Bar and Rumble Rooms. As our business continues to expand, we’re building a dedicated People function to provide consistent, practical and effective support to our teams and managers across all our brands.

We’re now looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join us on this journey. This isn’t a role where you’ll simply follow established processes. You’ll be joining a developing department, working closely with our Recruitment & People Manager to help shape how we support our people, improve our processes and build something that grows alongside the business. If you enjoy taking ownership, tackling challenges and having the opportunity to contribute your own ideas, this could be a great fit!

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You’ll be supporting managers across our brands with a variety of employee relations matters, including:
    • Providing practical advice and guidance on disciplinary matters, grievances, absence, performance and workplace concerns.
    • Independently managing workplace investigations, including fact-finding meetings, witness interviews, evidence gathering and investigation reports.
    • Supporting managers through formal employee relations processes, ensuring matters are handled fairly and consistently.
    • Helping managers build the confidence and skills to manage people matters within their own teams.
    • Managing employee relations cases, maintaining accurate records and ensuring matters progress appropriately.
    • Identifying opportunities to improve policies, procedures and ways of working.
    • Contributing to the continued development of our growing People function.

What We’re Looking For

  • We’re looking for someone who is approachable, organised, confident and comfortable working independently. You’ll need:
    • CIPD Level 3 essential, Level 5 preferable
    • Previous experience in an Employee Relations Advisor, HR Advisor or similar position.
    • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations independently from start to finish.
    • Good knowledge of UK employment legislation and ACAS guidance.
    • Experience advising managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters.
    • Strong communication skills, including writing investigation reports and formal documentation.
    • The ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
    • A proactive approach, good judgement and the confidence to recognise when matters need escalating.
    • Experience within hospitality, leisure, retail or another multi-site business would be beneficial.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of something we’re building – Join a developing People department where your ideas and experience will genuinely contribute to how we work.
  • Work remotely – Enjoy the flexibility of a UK-based remote role, with occasional travel for team get-togethers. We will ask that you’d be available to meet in person for your induction for the first few days.
  • Join a growing business – Work across multiple exciting brands within a group that’s continually expanding.
  • Make a real impact – Help managers develop, improve employee experiences and support positive change across the business.
