Own the finance systems agenda as the bridge between finance and tech. Are you a finance systems specialist who can sit between finance and a technical team and hold your own with both? Do you like owning the detail, knowing what a system should do, spotting when it doesn’t, and driving the fix? We Do Group are hiring a Systems Accountant for a well-established media business, to take ownership of finance systems within a busy team. You’ll be the key link between Finance and the D365 technical team, making sure Microsoft D365 and connected tools do what the business actually needs. There’s a clear backlog of changes to work through and a significant project to get the invoice automation tool in accounts payable working as it should. This is a hands-on role for someone who’s done this before and can step in with minimal handholding.
WISH LIST
- A strong finance systems background, comfortable owning issues end-to-end with little oversight
- Confident pushing back on both finance and technical teams, able to say when something doesn’t look right and explain why
- A logical, analytical approach to systems, with the judgement to know what’s feasible and what isn’t
THE ROLE
- Act as the main link between Finance and the D365 technical team, owning finance system issues end-to-end

- Work through the backlog of system tickets and changes, resolving them with the technical team
- Make sure Microsoft D365 and connected finance systems run in line with business requirements
- Translate business needs into system solutions, and challenge requests that won’t work technically
- Push back on the technical team where a proposed fix isn’t right, and steer to a better answer
- Own testing, including user acceptance and regression testing, and track issues to resolution
- Support system upgrades, patches and the rollout of new functionality
- Identify and deliver process improvements through automation and better use of existing tools
- Document system processes, controls and procedures clearly and accurately
- Make sure financial systems meet internal controls, audit and data governance standards
- Provide guidance and support to finance system users, and help bring on a more junior team member
YOUR PROFILE
- Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
- Effective communicator - written and verbal
- Proven experience in a finance systems role, with strong knowledge of double entry, chart of accounts, AP and AR
- Confident working across finance and technical teams with the credibility to challenge both
SALARY & BENEFITS
