Are you a part-qualified/QBE accountant who's drawn to the systems side of finance more than the month-end grind? Do you enjoy working out why something's broken and how to fix it, and want a role where you can build a proper career in finance systems? We Do Group are hiring an Assistant Systems Accountant to join the finance team of a well-established media business.
You'll report into an experienced Systems Accountant and sit at the point where finance meets technology, helping keep Microsoft D365 and connected tools running properly, picking up day-to-day system issues, and supporting larger projects, including improving the invoice automation that runs through accounts payable. It's a broad, hands-on role with genuine support and development for someone who wants to move from core finance into systems and grow into a fuller Systems Accountant role over time.
WISH LIST- Part-qualified/QBE accountant or strong relevant experience, with a good grasp of how finance processes fit together
- A logical, curious mind, happy to dig into a problem, ask why, and trace it back to the root cause
- Keen to develop within finance systems, having an interest in how finance tools work and link together across the business
- Pick up day-to-day finance system queries and tickets, working alongside the Systems Accountant to get them resolved
- Help keep Microsoft D365 and connected finance systems running as the business needs
- Support a key project to improve the invoice automation tool used in accounts payable
- Work with the D365 technical team to test and implement fixes, changes and new functionality
- Translate requests from finance users into clear, workable system solutions
- Take part in testing, including user acceptance and regression testing, and track issues through to resolution
- Help document system processes, controls and procedures so they're clear and accurate
- Spot opportunities to improve finance processes through better use of existing tools and automation
- Support system upgrades, patches and rollouts
- Act as a friendly point of contact for finance system users, offering guidance and support
- Help make sure systems run in line with internal controls, audit and data governance standards
- Learn the wider finance system landscape and build towards a fuller Systems Accountant role
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience
- Effective communicator - written and verbal
- An interest in finance systems and how they work together
- A solid understanding of core finance principles (AP, AR, GL)
- Strong problem-solving instincts and the appetite to learn the systems side properly
- Discretionary bonus
- London: 3 days in the office (Tuesday to Thursday), 2 days from home
