No bedding in period, no easing your way through it. They need someone who knows what good looks like and can just get on with it. We’re working with a listed construction business. Established, busy and a bit messy in places, which is exactly why this role exists. Good people, solid brand, but a lot going on and they need someone to bring control, structure and a bit of calm to the finance function. You’ll sit right at the centre of the group finance team, reporting into the Group FD. This is a proper Group Controller role, owning reporting, driving the timetable and making sure everything lands as it should.
The role:
- You’ll take ownership of group financial reporting across the PLC.
- That means running the close, managing the year-end, and keeping the audit process moving without drama.
- You’ll be expected to challenge, tighten things up and improve how reporting is delivered across the group.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the month-end and year-end close across the group.
- Owning PLC reporting and ensuring deadlines are hit consistently.
- Managing the year-end audit and dealing with external auditors.
- Preparing and reviewing group consolidations.
- Supporting the production of annual and interim reports.
- Improving reporting processes, controls and timelines.
- Working closely with divisional finance teams to get things aligned.
- Acting as a steady pair of hands during a busy period.
What they’re looking for:
- Qualified accountant, ACA or equivalent.
- Proven PLC / listed reporting experience.
- Strong consolidations background.
- Confident running audits and dealing with auditors directly.
- Happy being hands on and getting stuck in.
- Immediately available or very short notice.
If you’re the type that likes to come in, take ownership and make things better quickly, this is a good one.
