If you're looking for a broad, commercially focused legal role where no two days are the same, this could be worth a look.

We're supporting a global engineering business with revenues approaching £600 million as they look to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel to support their international operations. This is a genuinely varied in-house role, partnering closely with senior leadership whilst working across commercial contracts, corporate projects, governance and strategic initiatives. You'll also collaborate with colleagues across the UK, Berlin, Paris and New York, giving the role a genuinely international feel.

This is a well-established engineering and project services organisation delivering complex projects across infrastructure, industrial, manufacturing and energy sectors. With operations across Europe and North America, the business continues to invest heavily in technology, digital transformation and international growth. Despite its size, the culture remains entrepreneurial. Decisions are made quickly, people are trusted to get on with the job and there is real opportunity to influence how the legal function develops.

Reporting into the General Counsel, you'll become a key legal partner to stakeholders across the business. Rather than sitting on the sidelines, you'll be involved in commercial decisions from the outset, helping the business manage risk while enabling growth. You'll support teams across multiple jurisdictions, work closely with external advisers where needed and play an active role in improving legal processes through technology and automation.

You'll be involved across a broad range of legal matters including:

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts.
  • Supporting framework agreements, customer contracts, supplier agreements and strategic partnerships.
  • Advising stakeholders on day-to-day commercial and legal matters.
  • Supporting acquisitions, integrations and wider corporate projects.
  • Assisting with corporate governance and company secretarial activities.
  • Providing guidance on employment, regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Managing disputes, claims and relationships with external legal advisers.
  • Advising on data protection, anti-bribery and wider governance requirements.
  • Helping develop practical legal policies, templates and best practice.
  • Supporting the implementation of AI and legal technology to improve efficiency.
  • Working closely with colleagues across London, Berlin, Paris and New York to provide commercially focused legal support.

We're interested in speaking with qualified solicitors who enjoy operating as part of the business rather than simply advising it. You'll probably have experience as a:

  • Senior Legal Counsel
  • Legal Counsel
  • Commercial Lawyer
  • Corporate Lawyer
  • Associate looking to move in-house

You'll also bring:

  • Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
  • Experience working within a corporate or international business.
  • Confidence partnering with senior stakeholders.
  • An interest in legal technology, AI and process improvement.
  • The ability to manage a varied workload across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience within engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure, construction, industrial services or other project-led environments would be advantageous, although we're equally keen to speak with strong commercial lawyers from other sectors.

If you're looking for an opportunity with real variety, international exposure and the chance to make a genuine impact within a growing global business, we'd love to hear from you.
