FULLY REMOTE | FP&A LEADERSHIP | BUDGET, REPORTING & FORECASTING | TRANSFORMATION
Are you an experienced FP&A leader who can take control of a budget process, deliver credible management reporting and improve the way an FP&A function operates?
We Do Group are supporting an international business to recruit an Interim Head of FP&A during a period of development and transformation.
The immediate priorities are clear: deliver a credible and well-controlled annual Budget, own the monthly management reporting process and ensure the business has a robust monthly Outlook and cash flow forecast.
Alongside delivering the numbers, there is a broader opportunity to leave the FP&A function in a much better place. Reporting needs simplifying, forecasting needs greater structure and there is an opportunity to improve the consistency of KPIs, processes, governance and accountability across the business.
This isn't an interim assignment where you're coming in to simply keep things ticking over. They need someone who can quickly understand what's working, identify what isn't and implement pragmatic improvements while continuing to deliver the core FP&A cycle.
WISH LIST
- Significant senior-level FP&A or Commercial Finance experience
- Previous experience operating as a Head of FP&A, senior FP&A leader or equivalent
- Strong track record of owning annual budgeting across a complex business
- Excellent forecasting, cash flow and financial modelling experience
- Strong management reporting experience, with the ability to simplify reporting and make it more decision-focused
- Comfortable operating across multiple business units, functions and geographies
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge and influence senior leaders
- Pragmatic and hands-on β able to improve things without losing sight of immediate delivery
- Advanced Excel, with experience of FP&A systems and BI tools advantageous
- Qualified accountant or equivalent finance qualification preferred
THE ROLE
- Take ownership of the annual Budget process, including timetable, assumptions, templates, consolidation, challenge and governance
- Partner with senior leaders across the business to develop credible, driver-based financial plans
- Produce the monthly management reporting to an agreed timetable
- Own the monthly P&L Outlook and cash flow forecasting
- Improve forecast accuracy through stronger variance analysis, challenge and feedback
- Build a sustainable rolling forecast process with clearer visibility of expected performance
- Simplify the existing management reporting framework, removing duplicated or low-value reporting
- Improve the quality and consistency of KPIs, reporting definitions, variance analysis and commentary
- Develop clearer FP&A processes, governance, ownership and ways of working
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and standardise FP&A activity
- Work across Finance, technology and the wider business to improve data quality and reporting
- Create a clear roadmap of improvements and ensure there is an effective handover at the end of the assignment
YOUR PROFILE
You'll need to be comfortable balancing delivery with transformation.
The business needs someone who can get hold of the Budget, reporting and forecasting quickly, but equally someone capable of looking at the wider FP&A environment and asking: what can we simplify, what needs more structure and what will actually help the business make better decisions?
You'll be commercially strong, comfortable challenging senior stakeholders and capable of working through complexity without over-engineering the solution.
This will suit an experienced interim who can come in, assess the current position quickly, prioritise what matters and leave behind sustainable processes rather than creating dependency on themselves.
RATE & WORKING PATTERN
- Fully remote - Ideally based in London or the South East
- Interim assignment
- Reporting to the Deputy CFO
This is a genuinely meaty interim FP&A assignment. There is plenty to fix and improve, but the first priority is getting the fundamentals right β a credible Budget, reliable monthly reporting and an Outlook and cash flow forecast the business can trust.
