Role Overview: As Finance Controller, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Board and Site Manager in driving the financial strategy of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Operations & Compliance: Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, and credit control with precision and strategy. Oversee audits, ensure internal controls, and maintain legal compliance to support business growth. Deliver timely, accurate monthly and annual reporting, meeting tight deadlines. Manage all aspects of financial transactions, from ledgers and payroll to inventory and general entries. Take charge of VAT, PAYE, corporation tax, and R&D tax relief claims. Drive process improvements, manage system upgrades, and train teams on new processes and documentation. Support Business Management System and ISO compliance to ensure best practices.
  • Business Strategy & Planning: Develop forward-thinking business plans, dynamic forecasts, and scenario models to help the company thrive. Collaborate with Senior Management, procurement, and engineering teams to optimize costs and improve operational efficiency. Identify business risks and opportunities, supporting key strategic decisions with financial insights.
  • Corporate Governance & Stakeholder Management: Liaise with the parent company to ensure smooth governance and reporting. Represent finance at board meetings and support mass production strategies to drive business success. Manage key supplier relationships, including those related to legal, payroll, and IT functions. Oversee IT provision and ERP system to ensure GDPR compliance and smooth operation. Lead, develop, and mentor the finance team, conducting appraisals, coaching, and fostering a collaborative environment. Ensure business continuity by cross-training team members on finance tasks.

Additional Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, company policies, and confidentiality agreements. Promote integrity, professionalism, and teamwork within the organisation.

About You: You’re a proactive, resilient, and adaptable team player with a deep understanding of manufacturing finance and a passion for driving process optimization and system improvements. You’ve built a career in financial leadership and are ready to bring your expertise to an exciting scale-up business. You have the commercial acumen and communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where every decision impacts business growth.

Qualifications & Knowledge: Degree in Maths, Business, Economics, Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW qualification. Strong ERP and MS Excel skills. Knowledge of data protection regulations. Understanding of import/export taxes.

Skills & Experience: Solid manufacturing finance experience, with a proven track record as a Financial Controller. Expertise in audit processes and financial compliance. Skilled in process optimization and implementing system improvements. Commercial acumen and the ability to effectively communicate financial insights. Experience in multi-currency transactions. Experience with R&D tax relief claims. A proactive and resilient team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
