We Do Group are partnering with a fast-growing international business operating within the Offshore Wind & Renewable Energy sector to recruit a newly created Senior Cost Engineer.
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth, with the chance to build and improve project cost reporting and controls from the ground up.

The business operates across the global offshore wind industry, delivering complex project work for clients throughout the lifecycle of offshore wind projects.
They have entities across the UK, US, Poland and Taiwan, with projects spanning multiple international locations.
The business is continuing to develop its project and commercial infrastructure, creating plenty of opportunity for someone to come in, make improvements and genuinely shape how things are done.
The Role!
This isn't a role where you're walking into perfectly established processes and simply keeping them ticking over.
As Senior Cost Engineer, you'll play a key role in building and developing project-level cost reporting, working closely with Project Managers and the wider commercial team.
There’s a really good blend of cost engineering, project controls, forecasting, commercial analysis, stakeholder management and process improvement.
You'll be responsible for:
- Building and developing project-level cost reporting across the business
- Budget vs actuals and forecast-to-completion reporting
- Monitoring project costs, commitments and commercial performance
- Tracking project variances and identifying risks early
- Providing meaningful commentary and insight around project performance
- Purchase order controls and subcontractor cost tracking
- Supporting project close-out analysis, including estimate vs actual
- Partnering with Project Managers across the UK and internationally
- Challenging and supporting operational teams around costs, resources and scope changes
- Supporting bids, tenders, pricing and project cost models
- Pressure-testing margins and commercial assumptions
- Feeding actual project performance back into future estimates and bids
- Improving project controls, systems, reporting and processes as the business grows
The underlying brief has a strong focus on cost codes, budget vs actuals, forecast to completion, project cost performance and subcontractor cost tracking, alongside bid and tender support.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys being close to the detail of projects but can also step back and understand the bigger commercial picture.
You'll need to be comfortable working directly with Project Managers and operational teams, understanding what's happening across projects and translating that into clear cost information and meaningful commercial insight.
Equally, you'll need the confidence to challenge when forecasts, costs or assumptions don't look right.
You'll be joining a growing environment, so we're looking for someone who likes creating structure, improving processes and figuring things out rather than needing everything to already be in place.
Wish List
- Strong Cost Engineering / Project Controls experience
- Experience working within a project-based business
- Ideally experience across Renewable Energy, Offshore Wind, Marine, Construction, Engineering, EPC or EPCM
- Strong project cost control experience
- Budgeting, forecasting and cost reporting experience
- Experience with cost codes, commitments and forecast-to-completion
- Strong commercial awareness
- Comfortable challenging Project Managers and operational stakeholders
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Experience building or improving project reporting and controls
- Exposure to bids, tenders, estimating or pricing would be a big advantage
- International or multi-currency project experience would be useful
- Experience within a subcontractor or Tier 2 environment would be advantageous
- Proactive, commercially minded and comfortable working in a growing environment
The original brief also places particular value on candidates who have worked across international projects and those with experience building reporting frameworks and processes rather than simply maintaining existing ones.
