We Do Group are partnering with a fast-growing international business within the Offshore Wind & Renewable Energy sector to recruit a Senior Cost Accountant. Rather than inheriting a finished reporting structure, you'll have the opportunity to improve how project costs are tracked, reported and understood across the business. This is an ambitious international business delivering complex projects across the global offshore wind industry. With entities across the UK, US, Poland and Taiwan, they're operating across multiple projects, currencies and geographies. The business is growing quickly and the finance function is evolving with it, making this a great time to join and help shape what good looks like. Sitting within Group Finance and reporting into the Group Financial Controller, you'll become the finance point of contact for Project Managers and commercial teams across the business. A big part of the role will be bringing greater visibility and control around project costs, margins, forecasts and WIP, while giving operational teams the information they need to make better decisions. It's hands-on, commercial and varied. Tracking project costs against budgets and forecasts Building robust cost reporting across active projects Producing project P&Ls and explaining what's driving performance Monitoring margins, WIP and revenue recognition Forecasting project costs through to completion Identifying cost variances and commercial risks before they become problems Managing subcontractor costs and purchase order controls Reviewing project performance once work has been completed Working closely with Project Managers around resourcing, costs and changes in project scope Using historical project performance to improve future pricing We're looking for someone who can combine strong cost/project accounting experience with a genuinely commercial mindset. You'll be comfortable getting into the detail of project costs, but equally happy sitting down with a Project Manager and explaining what the numbers actually mean. ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified Strong Cost Accounting or Project Accounting background Experience within a project-led environment Renewable Energy, Offshore Wind, Marine, Construction or Engineering experience would be ideal Strong understanding of project costs, WIP and revenue recognition Comfortable analysing project margins and identifying commercial risks Advanced Excel skills Financial modelling experience Experience improving or building finance processes Exposure to bids, tenders and project pricing would be a big plus Discretionary bonus β Group performance scheme currently being developed ~4 days in the office / 1 day working from home, with some flexibility ~ Private healthcare ~28 days holiday + bank holidays ~ On-site parking ~ Statutory pension ~ Work directly with the Group Financial Controller ~ Genuine influence over how project costs and profitability are managed ~ Exposure to international projects and operations ~ Lots of interaction with Project Managers and commercial teams ~ Occasional travel to a second regional office to spend time with project teams
