We Build Recruitment are now looking to hire a Tekla Detailer on behalf of our client, a specialist engineering, fabrication, and installation contractor operating within the UK power transmission and distribution sector. They deliver bespoke steelwork and mechanical solutions for high-voltage substations and associated infrastructure, working to the highest quality and safety standards.
They are seeking an experienced Tekla Detailer to support the detailing and delivery of complex steel structures for substation projects. The role involves producing accurate, fabrication-ready models and drawings for primary and secondary steelwork, working closely with design engineers, fabricators, and site teams. You will play a key role in ensuring that designs are practical, compliant, and buildable in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed Tekla Structures models for substation steelwork, including:
- Gantries, support structures, portals, and frames
- Equipment support steel and secondary steelwork
- Client specifications (e.g. National Grid, DNOs)
- Relevant British Standards and Eurocodes
- BS EN 1090 (up to Execution Class 4 where required)
- Proven experience using Tekla Structures for structural steel detailing.
- Strong understanding of structural steelwork fabrication and erection.
- Experience detailing steelwork for substations, power infrastructure, or heavy industrial projects.
- Ability to interpret engineering calculations and design drawings.
- Good knowledge of:
- Steel connections
- Tolerances and erection methodology
- Experience in the EHV / HV power sector (substations, transmission projects).
- Familiarity with National Grid Technical Specifications.
- Experience working to Execution Class 3 or 4.
- Understanding of earthing steelwork and plant support interfaces.
- Experience working directly with fabrication workshops.
- HNC / HND or equivalent in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
