We Build Recruitment is recruiting for a highly skilled Bench Hand Joiner on behalf of our client, one of Scotland’s leading providers of bespoke architectural joinery and high-end commercial fit-outs. Operating from their state-of-the-art 30,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for producing premium quality joinery for prestigious clients in the luxury retail, hospitality, and high-end residential sectors. This is a role for a true craftsman who takes pride in creating intricate, one-off pieces to the highest possible standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Bespoke Fabrication: Manufacture a wide range of bespoke joinery items, including reception desks, luxury bar fittings, cabinetry, and specialist architectural features.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and work accurately from detailed CAD drawings and technical specifications.
- Material Mastery: Work with a variety of materials including hardwoods, softwoods, veneers, laminates, and solid surfaces (e.g., Corian).
- Machine Operation: Safely and efficiently operate standard workshop machinery (panel saws, spindle moulders, planers) and collaborate with the CNC department for integrated components.
- Assembly & Finishing: Perform dry-fits of complex assemblies in the workshop to ensure seamless installation on-site.
- Quality Control: Maintain a high standard of excellence, ensuring every piece leaves the bench with a flawless finish.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience: Time-served (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with significant experience in a dedicated bench joinery or shopfitting workshop.
- Skill Set: Proven ability in traditional joinery techniques (mortise and tenon, dovetailing) as well as modern fabrication methods.
- Portfolio: Experience working on high-spec projects for sectors like luxury hotels or flagship retail stores is highly desirable.
- Attributes: A meticulous eye for detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a commitment to meeting strict project deadlines.
