We Build Recruitment are now looking to hire an Assistant Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our client, a leading Preston based Civil Engineering company. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will support the Quantity Surveying department in managing the commercial aspects of construction projects, helping to ensure cost control, value for money, and contractual compliance throughout all project phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation for construction projects.
  • Support the measurement and valuation of works on-site and from drawings.
  • Help with the preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Monitor project costs and progress to identify variances and suggest corrective actions.
  • Assist with procurement activities, including reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Support the management of contracts and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and resolve queries.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Contribute to risk management by identifying potential cost and contractual risks.
  • Stay updated with industry standards, construction methods, and relevant regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Previous experience or internship in quantity surveying or construction industry is an advantage but not essential.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement procedures, and cost control principles.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
