The predicted salary is between 18000 - 25000 £ per year.

To provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical staff. To ensure the doctors are able to provide an efficient, helpful and caring service to the practice population. As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work:

  • Ensure efficient operation of the appointment system, and monitor the flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms.
  • Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment, and issue receipts.
  • Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors.
  • Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
  • Book appointments and recalls, ensuring full name and DOB are entered, to ensure that the correct record is retrieved.
  • Receive and make calls as required. Divert calls and take messages as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the system is operational at the beginning of each day.
  • Open and stamp incoming mail.
  • Scan hospital letters and other correspondence.
  • Deal with changes of patient information and receive all evidence as appropriate.
  • Clear rooms after surgeries and replenish any necessary stock.
  • Assist with daily Pathology lab results: administration of GP tasks.
  • Any other duties the management feel appropriate to the role.

Your training plan:

This is a fully work-based programme. You will get allocated time to complete your apprenticeship work and also receive regular meetings with your training provider. You will be studying the Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard.

Essential qualifications:

  • GCSE English (Grade 4) essential.
  • GCSE Maths (Grade 4) essential.
