Field Service Engineers to join Mc Hale Komatsu and work as part of our dedicated engineering presence at

Tungsten West in Plymouth .

This is more than a typical field-based engineering role.

You’ll be based at a major customer site, representing Mc Hale Komatsu and providing the hands‑on technical expertise needed to keep industry‑leading heavy equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently.

With multiple positions available and the site operating 24 hours a day, we’re interested in speaking with engineers who are open to working a variety of shift patterns.

The Opportunity

As a

Field Service Engineer based at Tungsten West , you’ll carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across the machinery operating on site.

You’ll work closely with the customer and your Mc Hale Komatsu colleagues to respond quickly to breakdowns, minimise downtime and ensure equipment continues to perform at its best.

As one of our representatives on site, you’ll combine strong technical ability with a professional and customer‑focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend machine breakdowns and complete effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Carry out planned servicing and preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.
  • Monitor machine performance and identify potential issues before they lead to failure.
  • Deliver consistently high standards of workmanship and customer service.
  • Work collaboratively with the customer’s site team and Mc Hale Komatsu support departments.
  • Complete service reports and other documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and professional working environment.
  • Follow all company and site‑specific health and safety procedures.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role when required.
  • What We’re Looking For
  • An NVQ Level 3 qualification in Plant Maintenance, or an equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Experience servicing and repairing heavy plant, construction, mining, agricultural or similarly complex equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of engines, hydraulics, transmissions and auto‑electrics.
  • Confident fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a site‑based team.
  • A professional, dependable and customer‑focused approach.
  • Good communication and IT skills.
  • Flexibility to work a range of shift patterns as part of a 24‑hour site operation.
