We’re looking for a skilled and detail-focused Machine Customisation Engineer to join our team at our Chester‑le‑Street depot. In this hands‑on role, you’ll be responsible for preparing Komatsu excavators for customer delivery—carrying out pre‑delivery inspections, completing machine customisations to specification, and ensuring all work is delivered accurately and on time. You’ll also troubleshoot faults, carry out repairs, and install specialist systems to meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete pre-delivery inspections (PDI)
- Customise new machines to customer specifications
- Carry out bodywork paint touch-ups to manufacturer standards
- Diagnose and resolve faults, escalating where required
- Carry out repairs and replace parts as needed
- Install and calibrate 3DMG systems on Komatsu excavators
- Install and calibrate systems such as X-Watch, Safety Shield and Tilt Rotators
- Complete Field Campaign work as required
- Set up attachment flows and pressures for customer equipment
- Report defects promptly to the Workshop Chargehand
