Our team in North Somerset is looking for a Recovery Worker to join them in providing high-quality recovery care to a diverse client group. As a leading charity supporting people with drug, alcohol, and mental health challenges, we operate over 80 services across England and Scotland, providing free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people each year.

As a Recovery Worker, we offer a starting salary of £25,000, rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, to £30,000 per year. For further details please reach out to a member of the recruitment team via recruitment@wearewithyou.org.uk.

Our Recovery Workers play a vital role in supporting clients to identify their goals, ambitions, and passions. You’ll work with them to create the best treatment plan for their needs and to guide them on their path to recovery. This is a frontline role at WithYou, where you will provide continuity of care through effective partnership working, care coordination, key work responsibilities, and intervention delivery. You will manage an active caseload, connecting quickly with clients and ensuring they’re always treated with respect and dignity. This is a fixed-term role until March 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on business needs and approvals — though this cannot be guaranteed. The postholder will be required to work 37.5 hours per week (Wednesday evenings are required).

Essential Skills

  • We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated individual, with an exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • You will have demonstrable experience working within the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist setting, or a clear motivation for wanting to work in the drug and alcohol sector.
  • A successful track record of providing efficient and reliable customer service is essential.
  • You will be highly organised, have excellent communication skills, and be able to manage your time effectively.
  • You will work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure a high-quality service is maintained.
  • Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do and has a positive and engaging approach to our clients and key stakeholders.
  • Have attained ONC/NVQ level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months.
  • Have demonstrable experience of working or volunteering in health, social care, criminal justice, or other specialist setting.
  • Successful track record of working or volunteering with people who have experienced substance misuse issues.
  • Have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team, supporting others when needed.
  • Be resilient under pressure and able to prioritise your work.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Be IT competent.
  • Able to be flexible with your working hours on occasion.
  • Be happy to support other With You locations when needed.

We are also looking for someone who has experience and knowledge of group working, assessment, care planning and key working, and understands the issues affecting our client group.
